A shadow is cast wherever he stands

Stacks of green paper in his red right hand

Sometimes a name is just a word. A simple word that can pass you by in a book, list or come from someone’s lips. In many cases all a person often needs is a simple name. Yet for some people names were the only problem for their weak little minds. Carla licked her blood red lips as she sat on a small plaza at a table of one of the cute little café’s in Venice. Oh how she loved Venice. Carla enjoyed the little cafés and the glass shops. A lot of her home decorations are made by the finest glass makers off all of Venice.

The older woman enjoyed the flavor or fine wine. It was a delicacy on its own whether it came from France or Italy itself. With wine came a fine tongue and a keen sense of taste. Not often would you see a woman her age drinking wine at this time of the day but the sun was on a perfect spot where it wouldn’t burn her skin but yet you could feel the warmth stroking you. She had shades covering her eyes and her dark locks were tied up with a glass hair clip.

Her eyes were scanning the area for familiar faces which was something Carla did a lot recently. She had been in a fight with her sister again about her behavior but she could not help that she lived in a boring world. If there was something she did not desire to live through it was boredom. Carla wanted entertainment, to be amused and feel alive. She didn’t want to be an old crow with no life to live for years and die knowing she could have done so much more with it. Call her a rebel all you want but in the end the age didn’t matter as long as you were good at what you did.

Carla raised a brow and pursed her blood red lips as she saw a familiar face indeed and gave the female a small wave. She never really had spoken much to Marie or that husband of hers. It wasn’t something she regretted but it was something she was reminded off everytime she saw the woman. The british girl who was so young last time they had met. Carla held up a hand for the waiter and smiled. “Give this lovely woman a glass of your finest please.” She said with a smile and took off her shades for Marie.

“Miss Ancel, how nice to see you. No wait, von Adler isn’t it?” she knew the woman was married but she never really got the chance to either congratulate or even talk with her.

for Marie! <3

I'm back!

Venice was renowned for its quaint charm and romantic flair. Marie had visited the city with her family during the summer, and indeed, it had lived up to its reputation. Maybe the only downside to the trip was that Alatar didn't agree with the heat, and like any other bustling city it was crowded; otherwise, it had been quite a successful trip.

Therefore, she decided to visit it again on an idle December day. Her family would soon be traveling back to the United Kingdom to celebrate the holidays with their relatives--well, the Ancels and other extended houses of that branch primarily, since the other von Adlers weren't really likely to welcome them all that much. That was because they'd never approved of Alatar marrying outside the family, and Marie respected their opinion just as long as they didn't interfere with her life, which they didn't. Though, they might bump into a few of them at the parties of other nobles and exchange non-genuine courtesies. But such was the way of the aristocracy, and Marie was well-versed in it.

Anyway, while Johan was at home with his tutor, Alatar was at work, and Isabel still at school, Marie decided to take a break from her woodcarving and take a trip out to Venice. She apparated there from her home in the Italian Alps before strolling down the path of the plaza. She was about to pass by a small, charming cafe when she noticed that an Italian woman was waving her over. Marie didn't know who the woman was, but she looked vaguely familiar. Perhaps it was one of her many distant Italian in-laws she had courtesy to her kinship to Iago?

She casually approached the woman's table, though felt cautious at the same time since she wasn't sure of the identity of the other female. To add to the mystery, the woman ordered a drink for her. The brunette was about to ask, politely, why she'd been beckoned over and if they were acquainted, but stopped herself when the woman took off her shades.

Marie instantly recognized her face. She didn't remember being given her name, but she'd seen her at parties held by the Neros and possible other Italian nobles. So this was, indeed, one of her many in-laws scattered about the length of the country.

She slowly took a seat across from Carla, who actually knew who she was. Perhaps Marie had spoken to her in the past, but she had somewhat forgotten their interaction. To be honest, most of these free-spirited and hot-blooded Italians seemed one and the same to her. "Yes, correct. I married a gentleman of that surname," she replied. "Forgive me, signora, but while I do recall seeing you at some point in the past, I don't quite remember your name." Or maybe she was a signorina, but Marie thought it was safer to assume that an older woman was married when her martial status was still unknown.
